Richard ColemanAuthor of plays and pantomimes |
| Richard Coleman has been writing for the stage for over thirteen years. Brought up in Colwyn Bay he graduated from
Manchester University before teaching at Lymm in Cheshire. He is co-founder of the amateur theatre group, 'The
Really Useless Theatre Company’ based in Lymm. Richard, a teacher for twenty-eight years has directed many original
pantomimes, and is known for his quirky sense of humour. He has only recently completed The
Funblings at Friar's Bottom, which, with a title like that, we hope is a comedy. Other plays in his portfolio
include a melodrama, ‘The Ghosts of Marvin
Grange’, ‘The Affairs at Meddler’s
Top’, a spoof murder mystery set in the 1920’s, 'The
Perils at Peddler's Cove', another murder mystery, a series of full-length pantomimes including ‘Stromboli
the Puppetmaster’ (a pantomime version of Pinocchio) and ‘Captain
Hook’s Revenge’and the Short Pants series of rhyming pantomime scripts (Ali
Baba, Cinderella, A
Christmas Carol, Mother Goose, Jack
and the Beanstalk, Dick Whittington and Snow
White). Richard believes that the art of live performance, and certainly amateur productions should be encouraged. His scripts leave room for improvisation and adaptation. |
