Sarah CowanWriter of plays for junior schools |
|
| Sarah qualified as a primary teacher at the age of 21, having choosen her profession at the age of 13. Her first
year teaching juniors saw her involved in the Christmas production, mainly as a pianist. Her love of the arts continued
to develop and by the second year, she was leading a key stage 2 show. She found herself adding humorous moments,
editing and re-drafting scripts and just before leaving her first teaching post, wrote the script entitled 'A Trip to the Beach'. The script is based on
her personal experiences of teaching and anyone involved in school life should recognise and appreciate the humorous
moments which arise. The inspiration for her second script, 'Snow White and the Seven Other Dwarfs' was a recent TV talent show. |
| Sarah is truly passionate about teaching and during her short teaching career has been fortunate enough to see the fantastic results children can achieve through the arts; the sense of togetherness it brings, the team spirit but most of all, the sheer joy of performing. "I am sure the children I have taught have memories of their acting experiences that will last a lifetime, I only hope I can continue to inspire children with my work in the future." |
| Children at her school are now desperate to join the drama club, which will give Sarah her first opportunity to see a performance of 'A Trip to the Beach'. "Such a strange feeling," she says, "To know that people all over the world have performed it already!" |
