Lazy Bee Scripts - Apple Mac Java Problems

Symptoms...
If you try to read one of our scripts on-line using an Apple Mac with the "Snow Leopard" installation of OSX
(OSX version 10.6), the Java applet may not work properly.  Usually the applet loads either a blank page or
the first page of the script.  Pressing the "next page" button in the applet refreshes the first page but will not
navigate to other pages of the script.
Cause
"Snow Leopard" is the first 64-bit operating system for the Mac.
Apparently there is a lot of difference between running Safari (& therefore the Java Virtual Machine) in
32-bit & 64-bit modes. It runs natively in 64-bit.
Running it in 32 bit mode will run the Lazy Bee Scripts applet correctly.
Solutions
There are two possible solutions:
  1. Download and use a browser other than Safari.  (We have seen an installation where the script applet
behaved correctly with Firefox but not with Safari.  However, note that we have also come across a case
where neither Safari nor Firefox worked!)
  2. Set Safari to work in 32-bit mode.  To do this
  •  Right click the Safari icon in applications folder
  • Choose 'get info'
  • Enable the check box for 'open  in 32-bit...'
  • Run Safari, navigate to a script page and the applet should work!
If that's not your problem, then see "why aren't the scripts displaying properly?"
