| Lazy Bee Scripts - Suitability | |
| Are the scripts suitable for children aged...? | |
|
We have tried to identify the agegroups to which all our scripts are suited. You can see this on the Scripts for Kids page, where they are sorted by age-group. You can also use the play scripts search engine to search by age range However, this is all opinion! It is our opinion of the age-group to which a script is suited. That doesn't mean that it will suit your purpose. It depends on what you expect from a play and what you expect from your kids. (And that depends on your cultural environment.) For that reason, we invite you to read the scripts on-line before you buy! |

| Are the religious scripts suitable for my church? | |
|
We don't know! There is a variety of styles amongst the religious and moral scripts, from oblique to direct, from orthodox to questioning and from serious to flippant. The variety of religious groups is even higher. For that reason, we invite you to read the scripts on-line before you buy! |
|
| How can I find a script to suit a mixed-age group? | |
|
Go to the full search engine. Scroll
down and you'll see a set of age ranges.
Select all the age ranges that apply to your group (then use any other restrictions, like length of show or numbers of characters) and see what turns up in the search results! |

| Is the web site safe for kids? | |
|
In general yes, but some of the plays for adults may contain material that is unsuitable
for kids. (Mostly, kids would not be interested in those scripts in any case! If they're looking for unsuitable material, they wouldn't start here!) This site has been rated using the SafeSurf rating system. This is a voluntary system which encourages webmasters to use self-rating. Recent versions of web browsers are able to use this rating in conjunction with the browser's "child suitability" settings, to block pages which are unsuitable. (See www.safesurf.com for details.) Self-rating has the obvious problem that one person may judge something as harmless, whilst another judges it as offensive. Generally the rating done for this site has been on the cautious side. |

| What sort of issues make play scripts unsuitable for kids? | |
|
Plays are fiction! Sometimes they are fantasy. They contain imaginary
worlds. The point of imaginary worlds is that you can explore issues that are dangerous in the real world. As a result, some plays contain behaviour that would be inappropriate in real life. Look, we have a whole selection of murder mysteries! At a more mundane level, some of the kids scripts contain "name calling" and other examples of characters being rude to one another. This isn't to teach children to behave badly, instead it allows reflection on inappropriate behaviour in an unthreatening environment. (It is not the kids calling each other names, it is characters in a play.) We can't judge what your kids are ready for. You can, so we invite you to read the scripts on-line before you buy! Another issue is bad language. (Sometimes characters may split infinitives or even drop their aitches.) In some of the scripts for teenagers upwards, some of the characers may swear. If so, we try to give a warning in the "style" section of the script overviews. (We may not always manage this, so as usual, we invite you to read before you buy.) |
