Lazy Bee Scripts - Displaying the Scripts

Why won't the script on the web site display in my browser?

You've got here because our scripts aren't being displayed on your computer.

The most common problems are that the "Java Virtual Machine" (JVM) is either

  • Disabled in your browser or
  • Not up-to-date or
  • Not installed

This is very easy to fix, but how you do it depends on which browser (and which version) you are using.  (See below)

There is an additional occasional problem for Apple Mac users.

Do you see a security warning near the top of the browser window?  If so...
     The message reads something like...
"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file
from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..."
That means Java is installed but disabled.  You should either be able to sort out the problem by
  • Clicking on that message and selecting "Allow Blocked Content" from the pop-up messages
  • Clicking on <Tools><Internet Options><Advanced>
and checking any boxes that relate to Java (or Java run-time environment, or "JIT compiler")
If not...
Check whether or not Java is Installed
(The following assumes that you are running a version of Windows!)
Open the Windows Control Panel.  (Either  <Start>  <Control Panel> or  <Start>  <Settings>  <Control Panel>)
There you should be able to find a Java icon.
If so...
Update Java
Double-click on the Java icon to open the Java Control Panel.
There should be an "Update" tab. Click on that and then click "Update Now..."
(which makes sure the latest version of Java is installed).
Then under the "advanced" tab, look at the "Default Java for Browsers"
(click on the + sign to expand that group) and make sure that it is checked for your browser - usually Internet Explorer.

After that, open your browser again, navigate to one of the script pages
(if you've been to that page before, click the "refresh" button on your browser) and all should be well!
If not...
Install Java
You probably need to download the (free) Java Runtime Environment from Sun.
Go to http://java.com/en/index.jsp. You should see a message inviting you to download free Java software.
Click the link button and follow the download and installation instructions for the Java Runtime Environment.
(That may take a few minutes, but if you follow the "automatic installation" it is painless.)

Note:  If you download and save the installation file on your computer, then you will also need to run it.
Find the file, wherever you saved it, and double click to run it.  (This will do a brief and painless installation.)
You can check that Java has been installed either by following the installation check above, or by trying to look at a script!
When you return to the script you were trying to view, press the "refresh" button on your browser,
which should force the page to reload, including running the Java applet.
