Star attraction is to be famous romantic novelist, Lydia Bray. The success of the weekend's event is threatened by the arrival of Andrew's oldest friend, Reivers Fenn, professional gambler, lothario and all-round liability. The chances of Reivers failing to be an embarrassment recede as not one, but two, of the women from his past turn up in the village. While one would rather forget that she ever knew him, the other has chosen not to forget that he owes her a lot of money.

SynopsisA tense courtroom drama with the prosecutor battling a slick defence lawyer at the murder trial of social misfit Josephine Mason. The second act takes the form of a flashback portraying the murder of which she is accused. We are left with the dilemma of knowing jury's decision before we learn the identity of the murderer. We are then able to evaluate the justice of the verdict, wherein lies the final twist.
