SynopsisMrs. Green is the real driving force behind 'Barker's Bonnets' a milliner's shop in Victorian England. However, she faces unemployment when Mr. Barker sells up to emigrate. A secret scheme is hatched to allow her to continue - and to thrive in the modern world of the 1870s. (The script tells an engaging story whilst exploring the novelties, inventions and social nuances of the Victorian world. This would fit well with the English National Curriculum Key Stage 2 History Topic, 'The Victorians'.)

Play 1 deals with Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, Play 2 covers Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour, Play 3 brings in Anne of Cleves and Catherine Howard, Play 4 introduces Henry's last wife, Catherine Parr, and Play 5 is a brief review from the point of view of the six wives.

Hijacked Fairytales by Kevin Jannetts

Some of the chorus roles might easily be played by younger children. Jack talks in Scots, somewhat reminiscent of 'Oor Wullie'. [In our opinion, learning this dialect is well worth the effort!]
