Their worst fears materialise when Sylvia and boyfriend Shadbolt, neither of whom have a clue about gardening, are given Ted's plot. Sylvia seems friendly enough but Shadbolt goes out of his way to be difficult and anti-social. The resulting feud between the old chaps and the loathsome Shadbolt takes a serious turn and they are forced to use their old army tactics to take desperate measures to permanently rid themselves of the obnoxious intruder. In the process they uncover Shadbolt's past and an unexpected connection to Sylvia...
