| Born and brought up in London, Sue studied drama as part of her degree at Lancaster University. She was offered
a conditional place on a subsequent MA in Theatre Studies, but the 2.1 entry requirement was not achieved due to
a set of unfortunate circumstances i.e. spending too much time drinking, playing bridge, in the bookies and down
the casino at Blackpool. |
| With hopes of a career as an Oscar-winning actress dashed, Sue spent a year working in a shoe factory while she
thought what to do next. Then she spent a year working in Liverpool youth clubs while she thought what to to next.
Eventually, she realised... |
| Sue has been a teacher now for over 20 years, and loves it. She has taught a wide range of subjects in places as
varied as a high school in France and a prison in Scotland. Her writing began with a pantomime, "Bluebeard",
written for fellow staff to perform at her first school, a secondary modern in Lincolnshire. |
| During an enforced 3-year break from teaching Sue wrote masses of fiction and photo-scripts for magazines like
"Jackie" "Patches" and "Just Seventeen". The lure of the chalkdust eventually proved
too strong, however, and she retrained to teach Primary. |
| For the past 15 years she has run after-school drama clubs, which have a hit-rate of 80-90% of the eligible pupil
population each year. Some of the plays she has written for them are those published by Lazy Bees Scripts - the
melodrama "Mrs. Stonely's Solution", the
short biblical epic "Samson Takes a Short Cut"
and the musical version of the same script, "Samson
- The Musical" |
| Sue lives near Perth, in a ridiculously happy second marriage, with her husband and young daughter. In her spare
time she runs a taxi service to ballet and gymnastics. |
