A Murder Mystery Event
|
| |
| What's it all about? |
- A murder mystery event in which the actors mingle and interact with the audience / guests
- Lazy Bee Scripts provides the scenario
- The actors improvise the dialogue based on the scenario
|
| |
| What's does Lazy Bee Scripts provide? |
| Lazy Bee Scripts supplies a pack of material for the performing company including:- |
- A "narrative arc" for the murder, covering
- Essential events
- Essential plot points
- The resolution!
- A background brief for each character
- Character description
- Character history
- Motivation
- General staging guidelines
- Recommendations for preparation
- Guidelines for improvisation (and how to deal with awkward members of the audience!)
- Preparing the venue for the event (making sure that the staff don't throw the actors out
for bad behaviour!)
- Audience "Detective Sheets"
- So the audience can guess who-dunnit (and, possibly, win a prize)
- Collateral material to make the "event" more realistic
- Allows you to print business cards for some of the characters, table cards, conceptual logos for a new TV programme and the cover of an incriminating DVD for distribution at the event
|
| |
| Note that Lazy Bee Scripts does not provide a script for the dialogue. Because the actors
are interacting with the audience, it is not possible to stick to a fixed script, instead the actors improvise
dialogue based on the "narrative arc." |

What's a Murder Mystery Event?
|
- The scenario is run as if the audience has been brought together for a special occasion
- In this case
- The event is a dinner to celebrate the launch of a new TV channel for the Sun TV empire
- The "audience" has the role of the people invited to the launch - movers and shakers in the media industry
- As the actors progress with the speeches, the plot mystery develops until one of the characters is found murdered...

| |
| What's in this Scenario? |
The time is the present. Max and Maggie Burdock, successful media tycoons, have invited the great and the good of the media world for the launch of their new channel.
In addition to Max and Maggie, other notable guests at the launch include:
Angie Burdock: Max’s daughter. A producer of cutting edge documentaries.
Oliver Jackson: Marketing guru and Angie’s partner.
Dicky Forsyth: Presenter and celebrity and a bit of a has-been!
Nigel Lush: Media whizz kid and assistant to the head of Channel Elite.
Lorraine Bannister: Head of rival Channel Elite.
The launch should be a great occasion but as Max unveils details of a secretive hostile takeover, tempers flair and the guests are soon each others’ throats. Eventually two are murdered! |
