A Murder Mystery Event
|
| |
| What's it all about? |
- A murder mystery event in which the actors mingle and interact with the audience / guests
- Lazy Bee Scripts provides the scenario
- The actors improvise the dialogue based on the scenario
|
| |
| What's does Lazy Bee Scripts provide? |
| Lazy Bee Scripts supplies a pack of material for the performing company including:- |
- A "narrative arc" for the murder, covering
- Essential events
- Essential plot points
- The resolution!
- A background brief for each character
- Character description
- Character history
- Motivation
- General staging guidelines
- Recommendations for preparation
- Guidelines for improvisation (and how to deal with awkward members of the audience!)
- Preparing the venue for the event (making sure that the staff don't throw the actors
out for bad behaviour!)
- Audience "Detective Sheets"
- So the audience can guess who-dunnit (and, possibly, win a prize)
- Collateral material to make the "event" more realistic
- Allows you to print brochures and "press cuttings" for distribution at the
event
|
| |
| Note that Lazy Bee Scripts does not provide a script for the dialogue. Because the actors
are interacting with the audience, it is not possible to stick to a fixed script, instead the actors improvise
dialogue based on the "narrative arc." |

What's a Murder Mystery Event?
|
- The scenario is run as if the audience has been brought together for a special occasion
- In this case
- The event is the launch of the new M'Nango Valley theme
park
- The "audience" has the role of the people invited to the launch - local worthies and potential investors
and suppliers
- As the actors progress with the launch presentation, the plot mystery develops until one of the characters
is found murdered...

| What's in this Scenario? |
Oregon Smith, the intrepid explorer, has purchased land
on Stockgrove Park, a local estate (close to the venue for this event). He will use the land to build a theme park,
celebrating African culture and history (in a slightly warped way!)
The event is to launch the plans of the park to local residents and business representatives (the audience).
Also present at the event are Lady Stockgrove
who sold land to Smith and is now horrified by his plans, Tanya Smith, Oregon's new "trophy wife", Rick Adams, newly hired manager of the park, on the rebound from a German theme park, Jane
Wilde, Oregon's fixer on the local council.
Oregon's plans for the park are already raising the hackles of his team, when the event is gatecrashed by Scrapey and Sunbeam a pair of environmental protesters who believe the park will damage the habitat of a rare butterfly.
Chaos ensues, eventually leading to two murders. |
