Furthermore, this is a very broad age range, and the plays listed below are (in our opinion) suitable for the whole primary school age range.  There may be other scripts which are suitable for just one range of the primary spectrum, therefore you might also consider looking at our Plays for Junior Schools and Plays for Infants Schools

Synopsis A school child gets his wish to see the Romanian child open the present he is sending. A Christmas play for infant schools.

Roles Minimum Male roles = 2. Minimum Female roles = 2. Minimum total with doubling = 15. Minimum total without doubling = 15. Chorus. Two of the characters are nominally adults. It is written so that the cast can be divided into two - a school class and Santa's elves.

Style A light musical for young children. Basic sets.
Synopsis A school class write Christmas letters to Santa, and we discover that they are dealt with by Mrs. Santa and a bunch of fractious elves.

A Magic Paint BrushAuthorGerald P. Murphy
Roles Minimum Male roles = 1. Minimum Female roles = 3. Minimum total with doubling = 10. Minimum total without doubling = 13. No chorus. Whilst Chen is written as a girl, the character could easily be switched to a boy (likewise Old Sing and the Magician are written male but could be female). Cast includes a cow and a small flock of (talking) chickens.

Style One-act play for children, based on a Chinese folk tale. Simple set (the set calls for a hut upstage, but that could merely be implied by an upstage exit), simple props.
Synopsis In feudal China, Chen and her mother are oppressed by their landlord and his greedy, vindictive family. Then a magician arrives and gives Chen a magic paint brush, painting with it makes dreams come true...

Synopsis A group of mice are delighted by their plan for constraining the local cat - until it comes to executing the plan.
Meanwhile, a lion falls in love, a boy ruins his chance of promotion in the shepherding business, and a fox tries to make the most of a fashion disaster.

Style Non-religious Christmas play for young(ish) children. Simple sets, simple props.
Synopsis It's Christmas and the trees are waiting to be sold. All except grumpy Brian, who doesn't want to be a Christmas Tree - he wants to grow up to be a telegraph pole.
