Bio
Skip is a playwright and teacher who enjoys riding his bicycle and avoiding yard work. He lives in Vermont in the USA with his wife Ann, and their cat Henry.
Beware McGruff!
When Skip was ten years old, he opened an encyclopedic volume that contained Shakespeare’s Scottish play. The color photographs of a performance were the first thing that drew his attention, but as he started reading the play, he became transfixed by the language. Certainly, at ten years old, he didn’t really understand what he was reading, but he was so taken with the language that he memorized passages which he would then recite on the playground where he was greeted by some rather confused looks by the other children and an occasional dirt clod to the head. Nevertheless Macbeth remained one of Skip’s favorite pieces of literature, and as such, he presents his play Beware McGruff as a tribute, bearing in mind that should he read the play, the Bard might call Skip an ‘artless, tickle-brained, moldwarp. But we do the best we can.
The Inspector Snow Plays
Skip is a big believer in the ability of theater to open new exciting worlds to children. His Inspector Snow plays bring the usual police procedures to cases dealing with anything but the usual suspects. Audiences will recognize many characters that have been borrowed from classic literature, but they will see them in stories with a rather different twist. Whether as observers or participant’s children of any age will enjoy these one act plays.
