However, his guilt was never proven. In 2009 the long-married Charlotte and Edward Colville play host to the obnoxious Selena Harper and her mollycoddled son Hadley. Hadley, with his unhealthy fascination with murder, fancies himself as an amateur sleuth, and sets out to solve the mystery.

In the ensuing debate, hidden and unacknowledged truths are surfaced and the question of the debt owed by creator to creature is examined. Ultimately, Max succumbs to a heart attack while grappling with his creation. Has this all been the result of Feeney’s descent into madness or is illusion more real than we think?
