The success of the weekend's event is threatened by the arrival of Andrew's oldest friend, Reivers Fenn, professional gambler, lothario and all-round liability. The chances of Reivers failing to be an embarrassment recede as not one, but two, of the women from his past turn up in the village. While one would rather forget that she ever knew him, the other has chosen not to forget that he owes her a lot of money.

Also in attendance is a sinister Eastern European hit-man seeking out his victim and willing to eliminate anyone in his way. Add to the mix the Finneran family and blunt businessman, Norman Arbuthnot and a successful event seems a rather distant possibility...
