The Order of the Pink Pantyhose by Erica Glenn

SynopsisFour elderly women-a fidgety hostess, her grumpy cousin, a southern belle, and a British cynic--sit down for afternoon tea. One is a murderer in disguise, one a detective in disguise, one a humanitarian worker in disguise, and one an innocent bystander (also in disguise). Conversation soon turns from the state of the weather to the untimely death of Great-Aunt Charlotte Robinson (the undercover leader of band of pantyhose thieves). And before you can say 'pink pantyhose,' an innocent tea party has turned into a dangerous (if slightly silly) game of 'who dun it?'

An illegitimate child born to a single mother is a potential burden on the parish, so apart from the loss of her good name, the mother faces a public thrashing, particularly when the new petty constable is driven by personal revenge.

SynopsisMichael's DNA test confirms his self-diagnosed Coulrophobia (fear of clowns). When Dr Keegle informs him he actually has the dreaded Clown Syndrome and only a week to live, his wife must keep him away from any form of comedy. Michael agrees to attend a support group. Tragically, the DNA test was mixed up, and rather than Courophobia, Michael has actually got the Clown Gene - he's a clown, and cannot help himself delivering an improvised stand up routine to the members of the Clown Syndrome support group. Exposed to comedy, they die in droves and Michael is carted off to prison, charged with murder. At the last moment his sentence is commuted to Community Service and his family must adjust to the new Michael, from his red nose to his floppy shoes.
