SynopsisThere's been murder afoot, but who can have done it? If there's a prize for rhymed mystery, this one has won it! The victim's a cat, but much more than that, He's a cat that has often been seen in a hat. A detective is called and a Mistress is found, (while the corpse of the cat is left there on the ground). It's funny, irreverent and won't take much time, and the best of it is, every line is in rhyme!

Dead Weight by Rob Ricards
RolesMinimum Male roles = 3. Minimum Female roles = 0. Minimum total with doubling = 3. Minimum total without doubling = 5. No chorus. All the characters are written male, but, as the author put it, 'there is no reason why one or two could not be female'. In theory, it could be done by a cast of three, but two of them would have to do a quick change from undertakers to tramps.

StyleFifteen minute absurd comedy (with more than a nod to Samuel Beckett). Single, minimal set and a coffin. (Contains swearing.)
SynopsisTwo undertakers, sick of carrying the coffin after their hearse has broken down, ditch the corpse out to lighten their load. The corpse is happily reanimated by a couple of passing tramps.
(The author provides hints as to the identity of the corpse, but also provides alternative hints - with the option of choosing a death to suit the production!)

Doggy Noire by Jamie Hope

StyleOne-act play in a single setting. Contains adult themes and language (although in the context of dogs, 'bitch' is not necessarily a term of abuse).
Noire as in 'bête noire' rather than 'film noir'. (No hard-boiled detectives.)
SynopsisBonzo the enforcer has brought Paulette the Poodle to the bridge, as arranged, but who is being set up for a fall? When Big Fido arrives, it turns out there may not be any winners, since the rats that come with him have grudges of their own.

SynopsisAfter a blow-out party in their tiny apartment, Chris and Jo decide to declutter their lives, but their mystical house doctor declutters more than they bargained for.

(Something like that.) His future looks bleak, but things look up when a prosecution witness goes to pieces. Without Humpty, is there a case against Wee Willie? Can the prosecution or defence sway the jury - played by the audience?

SynopsisJemima has just woken up from her meditation cd session to find three strange men in her living room. Well, not men, they're angels, summoned by the cd she has just listened to. They have answers for Jemima, but she won’t like them...

Grave Matters by Peter Stallard
Production by Carbost Village Drama Group garnered two trophies (Best Stage Presentation and Best Actor) at the Skye One Act Drama Festival, 2013

The Grave Warden is written male, but could easily be played female. The two female parts could, conceivably, be doubled, but the effect of Mrs. Roberts' final entrance would probably be better with more time for make-up!
