Hunting Death by Nicholas Richards
RolesMinimum Male roles = 5. Minimum Female roles = 0. Minimum total with doubling = 5. Minimum total without doubling = 8. Chorus. The narrator's role could be split amongst several actors. There are opening and closing choruses which could be performed by the ensemble or by additional actors/singers.

MusicThe music is designed to run continuously, so there is one 25-minute score. (It is divided into sections for rehearsal purposes.)

SynopsisThis drama recounts the story of three young men who bestir themselves from their wine-sodden lives to hunt and kill Death, but instead fall victim to him through greed and treachery.

The Lambton Worm by Timothy Hallett and Nicholas Richards

StyleShort musical retelling of an English folk tale. (The music plays throughout, even though some of the narration is spoken rather than sung.) No real set requirements, but the ideal performance would put some effort into creating a fearsome worm!
SynopsisThe tale of the wild worm of Wearside and its grisly end.
It should be emphasised that 'worm' is used in its old sense of 'serpent' - so this is a story of knights fighting dragons.

Living in the flat below him is Edward Bellingham, a strange, short-tempered man who has a fascination with Egypt and owns Lot 249 - a mummy, bought at auction. After a number of strange incidents, Smith begins to believe that Bellingham may have found a way of bringing Lot 249 to life to do his bidding.

The Neville Report - Village of Fear by Gary Diamond, John Fryer & Ray Lawrence

In theory, because it's a radio play, this could be done with a very small cast - Neville, the central character plus one other male and one female playing the rest of the characters. A Pig Tale by Kevin Jannetts
Production by Loch Duich Primary School won Adjudicator's special award. South West Ross District Youth SCDA Festival 2016.
RolesMinimum Male roles = 1. Minimum Female roles = 1. Minimum total with doubling = 7. Minimum total without doubling = 7. Chorus. The chorus is the sort that rushes on to perform songs and dances in various guises! Most of the roles are gender-neutral, although one of the pigs is called Maureen and the wolf is called Alan, both of which tend to be specific.

SynopsisThe story of the Three Pigs gets a revamp in this Scots story, allowing a couple of Narrators to bring the story to life with anthropomorphic pigs struggling to find a story they can take part in to keep their deal with a Fairy Solicitor. Add in a Big Bad Wolf called Alan, and it all works out fine in the end.
