Tea With Mrs Pankhurst by Ruth Urquhart & James Douglas

A Throw of the Dice by Ben Alexander

One male character is voice-only and more suited to being pre-recorded than performed live. The hospital staff (surgeon, nurse and duty manager) are written female but could be either.

StyleA full-length thriller on a single (hospital waiting room) set.
SynopsisHenry, whose father is close to death, and Judy, whose husband has been seriously injured, meet for the first time one evening in a waiting room of a private hospital. During the course of a long night, they get to know each other sufficiently for Henry to be able to help Judy when her husband's two brothers arrive the following morning to intimidate her into signing away her rights to her husband's wealth. However, Henry has a hidden agenda.

The Trumpet Major by Thomas Hardy (adapted Peter John Cooper)

SynopsisIt all starts with the funeral - although to the grieving widows, Elsie and Mary, this seems a bit final. But, from their new vantage point, James and Clifford find that they are able to look down, as well as look back. However, it's looking forward that gives them the most concern...

SynopsisWhen an intruder drops dead in their Sudbury flat, Laura Barrett passes off the corpse as husband Neville and claims the life insurance, thereby solving their multiple financial problems. In return for a cut, neighbour Peter supplies a car so Neville can take refuge in Yorkshire while Laura deals with the sale of their flat. Long-suppressed feelings between Laura and Peter soon come to the surface, but all efforts to ‘cement their relationship’ seem doomed to end in frustration at the hands of the emergency services.
