The Talky Bits by TLC Creative

SynopsisTen comedy sketches with a theatrical theme, designed to be interspersed between other material in a drama and dance showcase. The sketches cover the theatrical process from pitching a show concept through to first night nerves.

A Train Ride Away by Frank Gibbons
Performance by Aiken High won The Garcia Theater Project, North Augusta 2010.

Performance by Up-Stage Theatre Company won Best Youth Actress award in the Bedfordshire One Act Play Festival, 2011

2012. Hale One-Act play festival. Winner Best Original play. Production by Altrincham Garrick.
RolesMinimum Male roles = 3. Minimum Female roles = 2. Minimum total with doubling = 5. Minimum total without doubling = 16. No chorus. Designed for one principal character and four on-stage voices, though the voices could be allocated amongst a larger number of actors.
The principal character is an old man, nevertheless, this could be played by a youth theatre company.

Weir of Hermiston by David McVey from Robert Louis Stevenson

StyleOne-act drama, focusing on the relationship between Archie Weir and his tyrannical father. Adapted from an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Uses broad Scots (though omitting the less fathomable language from Stevenson's draft.)
SynopsisArchie Weir is the son of the Lord Justice Clerk and in training to be a lawyer himself, though he is fearful of his hard father. Following advice from a family friend, Archie watches a trial held by his father and is horrified at the old man's apparent glee at hanging the poor wretch. He speaks out in public against the death penalty and is exiled to the family's country estate.

Like so many others, they feel that together they are invincible and secure from the challenges and temptations of the outside world. For a while they get on with their new roles of Mr and Mrs, eventually starting a family and not looking beyond their own immediate comfort and needs. However, when their relationship comes under pressure through Chris's excessive social drinking and infidelity the cracks begin to show...

SynopsisHaving reached the English town of Derby, Adjutant General of Bonnie Prince Charlie's forces, Lord George Murray agonises over the need to tell the Prince that taking London is not possible. He must win over two other members of the Prince's council to carry the day and force retreat.
