The Panto Puzzle by Mary Portalska

RolesMinimum Male roles = 2. Minimum Female roles = 1. Minimum total with doubling = 5. Minimum total without doubling = 11. No chorus. There are 13 named characters, but four are off-stage voices (could be recorded or played by anyone who isn't on stage at the time), one actor is intended to play three on-stage roles and another could play three.

StyleA mixed-up pantomime adventure. (Non-musical, though there would be nothing to stop a production adding songs at appropriate points.)
SynopsisDame Dolly and Cheeky Charlie turn up at the theatre to find out that the pantomime has been cancelled this year. The caretaker shows them the boxes containing previous pantos, to discover that three things have been stolen from Cinderella's box by the sorceress Evilena. Dolly and Charlie must visit three other pantomimes to get them back.

Pantomime Academy by Helen Spencer

The script as written features 52 speaking roles and 3 non-speaking roles but can easily be adapted to suit larger or smaller groups. Most roles are gender-neutral.

The Prince and the Pussycat by Jon Dwyer
RolesMinimum Male roles = 4. Minimum Female roles = 5. Minimum total with doubling = 16. Minimum total without doubling = 18. Chorus. Lots of flexibility in the casting. There is no formal role for a pantomime dame, but the Queen could be cast as a dame (as could Primrose!) Likewise, the prince could be played by a female as a pantomime principal boy. Cast includes several mice!

Rapunzel II - Back To The Tower by Sian Nixon

Willy, of course, intends to rig the competition - so that his son will win. But Rapunzel has already fallen for Prince Lufred Now, even if she doesn't know it...

Rhyming Aladdin by Stuart Ardern

This is an English pantomime, so Widow Twankey could well be played as a pantomime dame and Aladdin as a principal boy (so male playing female and female playing male)

SynopsisAladdin, a washerwoman's son falls for a beautiful princess. In his urgent need for wealth, he is tricked into accompanying the wicked Abanaza on an expedition to retrieve a magic lamp. Abanaza traps Aladdin in a cave, but with a lot of magical help Aladdin escapes and (after a few twists and turns) love triumphs.

Rhyming Beauty and The Beast by Richard Coleman

StyleA simple, humorous rendition of the tale of Beauty and the Beast in one-act and in rhyme.
SynopsisA merchant goes to trade his wares and bring back gifts for his three daughters. Two of them, greedy and vain, desire jewellery, the other, fair and good-natured, wishes for a rose. But the merchant plucks a rose from the garden of the Beast, and he must pledge the Beast his daughter's hand in marriage to save his own life.

Rhyming Captain Hook by Richard Coleman

StyleA comic, rendition of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan as a rhyming pantomime. Minimal set requirements, but includes a comic cookery scene.
SynopsisCaptain Hook plots his revenge on Peter Pan, with the help of a crocodile and a poisoned cake. Peter Pan, Tonkerbell (the punk fairy) and the crocodile have other ideas.
Note that as with all adaptations of Peter Pan, we pay half the author's royalties to Great Ormond Street Hospital

Rhyming Pinocchio by Richard Coleman

StyleA simple, humorous rendition of the story of Pinocchio in rhyme, minimal set requirements. Not quite a full-blown pantomime, but in the same comedic area.
SynopsisGeppetto makes Pinocchio, whom the Blue Fairy brings alive, however, as part of the spell, if Pinocchio tells lies, his nose will grow! Pinocchio is tricked into joining Stromboli's puppet show. Stromboli plans a show for the Duke which will make him rich, he tries to get Pinocchio to flatter the Duke's court, with disastrous results for the puppet's nose. Pinocchio is trapped, but who will rescue him?
