Their local police officer joins the meeting to address their concerns and ascertain the extent of their losses so as to begin investigation. As they recount their losses we discover not only the monetary value but also the touching sentimental value each piece has. But, of course, there is a twist...

The Neville Report - Village of Fear by Gary Diamond, John Fryer & Ray Lawrence

In theory, because it's a radio play, this could be done with a very small cast - Neville, the central character plus one other male and one female playing the rest of the characters. Sally tries to calm him down but her good nature becomes too good when the plumbers telephone to put off the work. Godot was probably a plumber.
