RolesMinimum Male roles = 4. Minimum Female roles = 8. Minimum total with doubling = 16. Minimum total without doubling = 33. Chorus. A nucleus of 11 principals plus chorus (with occasional lines). Aladdin is assumed to be a principal boy (i.e. played by Female), Widow Twankey a pantomime dame (i.e. played by Male).

SynopsisSultan Abanaza, wicked but bored, finds a magic ring which leads him on a quest for an even more valuable magic lamp. He needs the help of Aladdin, a Peking washerwoman's son and would-be suitor of the beautiful princess. Mayhem and magic ensue!
