Les and his wife Rita's slow drift apart is accelerated by conflicts over their daughter's sex life and their son's criminal activities. Then comes the news that Les is trapped in an underground roof fall. His family, the neighbours and the whole village can only wait.

When the bride and groom and his father arrive for the weekend along with the groom’s psychic mother, scandalous revelations lead to the wedding plans being blown apart and a ruined weekend, although chaotic events lead to Valerie’s happy release.
