Fifteen-minute play. Single set (a pawn shop in New York in the 1940s). A brief glimpse into individual lives, set against the background of the holocaust.
Synopsis:
Hilda Gruenberg has to renew her father's visa affidavit to stand a chance of getting him out of Nazi Germany to join her in America, but it'll cost her $650. She believes her family heirloom ring is worth $10,000, so she's shocked when the pawnshop owner, Mr Meyer, only offers her $650 for it. Why is he taking advantage of her desperation, and is she too proud to accept?
